how to know which is my inner voice

The advice to listen to your inner voice is becoming more common these days. If you are like me, you may have laughed and asked, “how do I know which is my inner voice?”

For me, there is a lot of chatter going on in my head all day long. And it happens while I am sleeping, too. In fact, I have voices talking to me and range from giving me advice, to warnings, or praise, and even voices that make me feel guilty.

So, which is my Inner Voice?

The best way to understand which voice in the head is your inner voice, or your intution is to run a test. Start with something simple and ask it when you are not in a rush or you don’t really care about the answer.

For example, you could ask yourself, “should I wear the red shirt today?” This is a question with a YES or NO answer. That is an important part of how to ask a question: you want to ask one that gives a Yes or No answer.

When you ask yourself the question, close your eyes and notice how your body reacts. Does it tighten or feel nervous or anxious? If it does then that is your Ego. But if your body feels lighter, relaxed and loving then that is the Inner Voice.

The simple distinction is the Ego is fear-based and the Inner Voice is love-based.

We have let the Ego take control of what we hear and how we react because it the loudest. The Inner Voice is often softer and therefore we don’t pay attention to it.

Try asking yourself questions each day in order to really understand how your body communicates the Yes or No to you. The more your practice the easier this will become and it will be a natural check for you before making a decsion.

The ultimate goal is to empower you to turn inwards for the answers. Your body will not lie to you. But it’s up to you to listen to what it is trying to say. You have free will in all that you do. Listening to your Inner Voices is up to you. 

Hopefully you will gain the confidence to not only call upon your Inner Voice or Intuition when you need reassurance about a decision. And by practicing this simple exercise you will naturally feel the answer your body is communicating.

Trust in yourself. Trust in your knowledge. And trust that you know the answers and they may not be what you are expecting. By learning how to communicate more effectively with our intuition we then take control to create the life we were meant to live.
